Thibaut MENNY is a doctoral student in the Chair of Circular Engineering for Architecture (CEA) as part of the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geomatic Engineering (D-BAUG) and the Institute of Construction & Infrastructure Management (IBI) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich (ETHZ), Switzerland. He is conducting applied research in collaboration with two french companies: CERIB (Studies&Research Center for Concrete Industry) and one of its subsidiaries, Agyre (a french national referent for circular economy in the construction sector). Thibaut's background lies in architecture and sustainable strategies. At EPFL, he completed a bachelor's degree in architecture and then a master's degree with a major in architecture (School of Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering) and a minor in Energy (Mechanical Engineering Department). After his degree, he worked first at EPFL as a teaching assistant in architecture for a master student studio project relating to studies of Easter Island (FAR Lab led by Pr. Paolo Tombesi) and also as a scientific collaborator at the structural exploration Lab (led by Pr. Corentin Fivet in Fribourg) on a specific project called « mapping Geneva's embodied carbon legacy » in collaboration with the HABITAT Research Center. Then he worked in France for four years in the private sector (consultant for ELIOTH on sustainable harbor strategy & planning, design office manager of Energy Observer Developments on hydrogen applications for city & mobility, and independent architect on renovation projects) as well as in the public service (design expert on hydrogen refueling station planning for the Departmental Energy Syndicat of Ille-et-Vilaine).
